M*chelle and I got to go out tonight to see a live singer we both like a lot with some other people on the staff where she works. I was enjoying the music while she was chatting with her coworkers, but I wasn't drinking and getting rowdy or anything, just laying back, thumping my feet to the beat and enjoying a night out of the house.
One of her coworkers looked at me after a couple of hours and said, "You sure don't show a lot of emotion!" Of course, one of the reasons I wasn't laughing and talking too much is that we were right next to a speaker, and I just couldn't hear anything unless I really concentrated on it.
Anyway, I told her that I do show emotion during sex and Cowboys games.

Quick question: How freakin' long does it take to tally the Texas caucus results?!?
Posted by: Humbaba on March 8, 2008 05:36 PMI'm starting to feel like I'm living in Florida regarding the caucus disaster. There are three precincts locally that reportedly LOST their results. I'm sure they were just sent to the wrong place or something silly, but reporting results is voluntary and done by mail with the deadline being the end of the month.
In the past, about 5 people per precinct ever participated in the caucuses, and nobody cared what the results were, and the rules reflect that reality.
Posted by: Observer on March 8, 2008 06:09 PMDoesn't it determine a third of the delegates?!?
Posted by: Humbaba on March 9, 2008 02:21 PMYou forgot to mention it was a Minister who asked you that!
Posted by: Felicity on March 9, 2008 05:02 PMHumbaba, we're as flabbergasted as the rest of the country about this. It's really awful. But like Observer said, we probably haven't had this kind of turnout in the caucus process since .... um.... ever! The flaws in processing period are huge, and I'm willing to bet the state Dem party will take a look at the rules now.
What I'm really tired of is hearing that Hillary "won Texas" in the media. She didn't win in the delegate count, but the media are totally ignoring that, except for the very few in-depth stories that are out there.
Posted by: Perkusi on March 9, 2008 06:28 PMOops, I think I managed to not post my next comment, so I'll try again. Who did you go see perform? Rich and I recently went to a live performance by Jonathan Coulton (www.jonathancoulton.com). He's got lots of smart, funny songs including some oriented to science and science fiction. (song about fractals, anyone? Or Pluto's recategorization? "re: Your Brains" is rather fun along with the witty song "Code Monkey.") Check him out if you haven't heard his stuff already.
