How to Catch Feebas II

One old entry in my archive gets more hits from search engines than maybe all the other entries combined, and it's the one about how to catch the rare Pokemon called Feebas. I thought I would update that with a more complete, easy to follow guide here because I only mentioned it in passing in that old entry, and I get at least one email a week asking for more details (DELETE, DELETE, DELETE).

Perhaps this will help some other parent out there who wants to be a hero to their Pokemon-loving kid, so here you go:

1) You'll need to go to route 119 in Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald, the South end of the water, with a Pokemon capable of "Surf" and any rod (old rod is preferable).

2) The water, like the land, is divided up into grid squares. You need to establish a search pattern. I surfed over to the bottom-most water square in the SE (bottom left) corner and started working my way up from there in a zig-zag pattern.

3) At each square, you will want to fish successfully at least five times (you have about a 50%-75% chance per try to catch Feebas if he exists in that square). If you don't get a Feebas on the hook any of those five times, move to the next square.

4) Feebas can only be found in six random squares on the map. You will probably find Feebas in at least one of the squares you can get to in the south end of the water (there are over 100 squares there, I think), but if you can't, move past the rocks and check the areas further north.

5) As you search, use landmarks to identify which squares you've already covered. Be smart about your search pattern so you don't waste time searching squares you looked at before. It is best to allow yourself a couple of hours of continuous play.

6) Be sure to remember which square you catch Feebas in. You want to catch a female Feebas so you can breed it, and you want a Feebas with certain personality characteristics so that you can more easily feed it the Pokeblocks necessary to evolve it to Milotic.

7) Be sure to only feed your Feebas high-level pokeblocks (preferably mixed with the help of a master using rare berries) because you can only feed a Feebas so many pokeblocks before it won't take any more. If you don't max out its beauty with that set number of pokeblocks, you'll be stuck at a dead end and will have to start over with another one.

Parenting makes you do weird stuff, you know?

Comments on entries can only be made in pop-up windows while those entries are still on the main index page. Sorry for the inconvenience this causes, but this blocks about 99.99% of the spam the blog receives.

You should really have a seriously "Known Around The World" type website I have been searching for feebas for an extreemly long time and this is the first breakthrough. I checked on cheat planet and all other types of places. I even tried a Gameshark but I didn't have the mastercode for it. I don't have internet. Anyway thanks and keep up the good work.
P.S. Where do you get the Eon, Mystic, and Aurora Tickets?

Posted by: Game Ghost on April 3, 2006 01:23 PM

You can get those at special Pokemon events that go around the country. Some, I think, are available at Pokemon Center stores, but last I checked, there were only two in the United States (New York City and Seattle). We got Mystic and Aurora tickets at a "Pokemon Rocks America" exhibition that passed near us (about an hour away) several months ago.

When you go, there will be a special section devoted just to people who are getting these tickets. They'll have a table full of people who will guide you step-by-step through the process if you bring your gameboy and game, but if you know what you're doing, you just need your wireless connector in place and you can get a ticket just by standing within 30 feet or so of the broadcaster.

Posted by: blaze it!!!!!! on August 3, 2006 11:09 PM

Man, this is hard work looking for a Feebas. I'm not going to give up though. Do you have to catch something 5 times to find a Feebas. I mean do you have to catch a Carvanha 5 times for a Feebas to show? You lucky guys finding one that fast. For me it's going on about 4 hours.

Posted by: Marcus on August 4, 2006 09:53 PM

Nope, "get a bite" 5 times and if feebas doesn't show up, he's not in the square. Also, there are roughly 400 squares of water in that route and that means 6 tiles is 1.5% of finding it. Use an old rod, it picks up fish in one click of an "A" button. If u use super rod, you'll run into tonza carvana.
And in every game, the 6 tiles are different. Funny thing how the guy and his girl both got a spot besides the bird house. So asking your friend won't help much, except if he HAS a feebas and u beat him up and steal it.

Posted by: AnonyMiss on August 4, 2006 10:48 PM

Oh, yeah, i started from the top and worked my way down. Haven't found one yet, but i've finished searching under the bridge. Wish luck for me, i have what it takes to evolve it ^^

Posted by: devrin on August 28, 2006 11:11 PM

aak! I just LOVE Milotic. This is taking me HOURS. I was using the Superod, but since some people found it with the old rod, I'll use that. I'm staying up for this! LOL.

Question peeps. Does it matter which direction your facing in, really?

USE OLD ROD..OLD ROD IS BEST.the six square is quite hard to find so it needs patience.mainly, jus bring bout 5 dive balls or pokeball.REMEMBER the square so that if u never catch u can fish there and get an0ther 1.
