Opportunity Knocks

Work-sensitive enough that I decided to delete it. Sorry.

While I love my job, it doesn't ever offer any opportunities for extra cash.

Not that I am complaining, I'd gladly trade that for being home playing with my kids at 4pm every day.

You will never ever never ever never hear me complain about my job. During summers like this when I am making extra money, I still work a grand total of 2 hours per day in the classroom (and maybe an average of an hour a day outside of the classroom). For workshops, which is even more money on top of summer teaching, it's busier.

During the normal school year, when I am not doing anything extra, I am at work from about 8:30am-2:30pm, three days per week (MWF). I don't have to go in on Tuesdays or Thursdays, but I usually do to meet Michelle for lunch or putter around the office. Now that we have a baby, I'll spend even more time doing things from home instead.

I even get pretty much the same holidays as the kids. Now I do a lot of stuff from home, mainly answering student questions via email, writing and grading exams, etc. But I set my own schedule there. It's really great.
